Horncastle House is a care home with nursing, providing 28 places for people who have nursing and/or dementia needs and four places for physically disabled people. The house, which has been tastefully extended to provide single or shared rooms, most with en-suite bathroom facilities, is set in extensive grounds of 15 acres with orchards, rose garden and a wonderful variety of mature shrubs and trees. There are two fine lounges and a spacious dining room with doors opening into the gardens.

Nursing care is of prime importance and is provided 24 hours a day by qualified staff under the personal supervision of the Registered Manager. Local GPs visit the home regularly and are on call at all times.
Sussex Health Care retain the services of a range of therapists - physiotherapy, occupational therapy and reflexology are available on request. Experts are available to advise on any aspect of a service user's care, recreational pursuits or environment.
The activities programme is one of the most important aspects of life at Horncastle House. A huge range of activities are undertaken by the service users including handicrafts, quizzes, reminiscence sessions, music and movement, cookery and art therapy. The key aims of the programme are the provision of mental stimulation, continuation of hobbies and interests, and prolonging mobility.
Our experienced chef prepares interesting and homely cuisine with attention to individual requirements and any special diets. Mealtimes are important at Horncastle House and great care is taken to ensure that meals are attractively presented and elegantly served.
All staff undertake an induction programme of instruction when joining Sussex Health Care. In addition a system of supervision and support for care staff enables them to gain experience and increase their skills. Extensive in-house training is provided by the Sussex Health Care training team to develop skills in dementia care, and QCF courses are undertaken in conjunction with local colleges.
