Orchard Lodge and
Three purpose-built bungalows just outside Horsham, West Sussex, providing care for adults with learning and physical disabilities.
Both specialist care homes, with nursing, combine the latest technological facilities with a safe, comfortable, homely environment for all our service users.
Our aim is to provide a care home that offers a safe, comfortable environment with support and stimulation to help service users maximise their potential physical, intellectual, emotional and social capacity within an individual person-centred plan. Service users have the right to live as normal a life as possible and to have the respect of those who support them.
The friendly and homely atmosphere we have created at both homes ensures that service users are able to continue their lifestyle with personal privacy and dignity. The peace and tranquillity of our lovely home and gardens is enjoyed by the service users and they are confident of the high standard of care.
Both homes offer specialist adult care with 24-hour nursing support. Orchard Lodge consists of two units, one with 11 and one with 12 places, Boldings Lodge has 10 places, all of which are for people with learning and/or physical disabilities aged 18 to 65 years. Some of the many activities include alternative complementary therapies, dance and movement, music, arts and crafts, cooking, hydrotherapy swimming and hack driving. We benefit from the use of our own specially adapted minibus enabling service users to go shopping, attend local clubs and further education and enjoy outings and sporting activities.
Every effort is made to enable service users to keep in touch with relatives, friends and advocacy and volunteer befriending schemes are encouraged. The home works closely with local colleges and outreach services to provide leisure and activity programmes.
During the year the people at Boldings Lodge and Orchard Lodge enjoy trips to the seaside resorts of Brighton and Worthing, which are only 30 minutes away, ice-skating in Guildford, cinema evenings and many opportunities to visit local parks, clubs and shopping centres.
All staff undertake an induction programme of instruction when joining Sussex Health Care. In addition a system of supervision and support for care staff enables them to gain experience and increase their skills. Extensive in-house training is provided by the Sussex Health Care training team and QCF courses are undertaken in conjunction with the local colleges.
