Sycamore Lodge is a purpose-built service for younger people with neurological conditions including Autism and Huntingdon's disease.
Sycamore Lodge opened in July 2012, offering provisions for up to ten people with eight en-suite rooms plus two flats where service users are encouraged to be as independent as possible, with professional support.
Our aim is to provide a safe, comfortable environment with support and stimulation to help service users maximise their potential physical, intellectual, emotional and social capacity. Service users have the right to live as normal a life as possible and to have the respect of those who support them.
The friendly and homely atmosphere created at Sycamore Lodge ensures that service users are able to continue their lifestyle with personal privacy and dignity. The peace and tranquillity of our lovely home and gardens is enjoyed by the service users and they are confident of the high standard of care provision.
Sycamore Lodge has its own kitchen and dining area plus an IT/Games room where service users can access the facilities. The service has a large sitting room available plus:

Support and Care
Support and Care is of prime importance and is provided 24 hours a day by qualified staff under the personal supervision of the Registered Manager. Local GPs visit the home regularly and are on call at all times.
Sussex Health Care retain the services of a range of therapists. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy and reflexology are available on request. Expert advice is available to advise on any aspect of a service user's care, recreational pursuits or environment.
The activities programme is one of the most important aspects of life at Sycamore Lodge, the activities centre in the grounds is a lively place. A huge range of activities offered to the service users who are also encouraged to pursue college placements and work experience options. Enabling service users to be as independent as possible is also important for personal development.
Meal times are an important social interlude at Sycamore Lodge and service users are encouraged, where able, to plan meals and prepare their own food with support.
All staff undertake an induction programme of instruction when joining Sussex Health Care. In addition a system of supervision and support for care staff enables them to gain experience and increase their skills. Extensive in-house training is provided by the Sussex Health Care training team and QCF courses are undertaken in conjunction with local colleges. Sussex Health Care has its own accredited Edexcel Academy for internal and external courses.
